Privacy Policy

Effective Date: January 1, 2026

Introduction and Applicability of Privacy Laws

This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding information collection and use on our website. Our business operates primarily within the United States and Canada, serving U.S. and Canadian customers and visitors. We have annual gross revenues below the threshold under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, CCPA/CPRA). We do not buy, receive, sell, or share any personal information of California consumers or households, nor do we derive any revenue from selling or sharing personal information. Accordingly, we do not currently meet the applicability thresholds for the CCPA/CPRA and are not subject to its enhanced obligations at this time.

Additionally, our website does not target or knowingly receive visitors from the European Union, United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions outside the United States and Canada. We do not process personal data of individuals in those regions, and therefore the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar international privacy regulations do not apply to our operations. For Canadian residents, we comply with applicable laws like PIPEDA by providing this notice of our data practices.

We provide this Privacy Policy for transparency and to comply with applicable U.S. and Canadian laws, including the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA), which requires disclosure of information practices for websites accessible to California residents.

If our business practices change in the future such that additional privacy laws become applicable, we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly.

Information We Collect

We collect limited personal information to provide our services, such as quotes for automated Clean Truck Check compliance devices and subscriptions. This may include:

  • Contact and Quote Information: When you request a quote or contact us, we collect your name, email address, phone number, company name (if applicable), and address (e.g., via forms).
  • Vehicle Information: For device programming and compliance, we collect vehicle details such as VIN, license plate number, registration state/province, and registration date. Our devices also collect engine data and vehicle location data as required for the Clean Truck Check Test; California will not accept test data without this information.
  • Payment Information: If you subscribe or make payments, we collect billing details processed securely via third-party providers like Stripe. We do not store full payment card information.
  • Technical Information: Standard server logs automatically record non-personal data such as IP addresses, browser types, referring pages, access times, and device information for operational purposes like site security, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Analytics and Tracking Data: We use tools like Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel to collect aggregated usage data, including page views, interactions, and demographics. These may use cookies or similar technologies to track user behavior over time and across sites. We use Facebook Pixel solely for aggregated analytics and conversion measurement, not for selling personal data or engaging in third-party behavioral advertising.

We do not collect sensitive personal information unless required for our services (e.g., vehicle location for compliance tests), and we minimize data collection to what's necessary.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website uses cookies and tracking technologies for analytics and functionality:

  • Essential Cookies: Necessary for site operation (e.g., session management).
  • Analytics Cookies: Set by Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel to understand site usage and improve services.
  • Do Not Track Signals: We do not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, as no universal standard exists, but you can manage cookies via your browser settings.

You can opt out of Google Analytics via their opt-out tool or adjust cookie preferences in your browser.

How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide quotes, program devices, and manage subscriptions.
  • Process payments and deliver services.
  • Communicate with you (e.g., confirmations, support).
  • Analyze site usage to improve our website and services.
  • Comply with legal obligations, including CARB reporting (e.g., submitting engine and location data for tests).

Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide our services, comply with legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. For example, contact and vehicle data (including VIN, license plate, and registration state) is retained for the duration of your subscription plus up to 1 year for legal compliance. Engine and location data from tests is retained as required for CARB submissions. Note that device manufacturers may retain provisioning data (e.g., VIN, license, registration state) as well as engine data and location data for longer periods, over which we have no knowledge or control. When information is no longer needed by us, it is securely deleted or anonymized.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share it with:

  • Service Providers: Third parties like Stripe for payments, Google for analytics, device manufacturers for provisioning and data collection (including engine and location data), and hosting providers for site operation. These are bound by confidentiality and use data only for our purposes.
  • Government Entities: As required for compliance, such as submitting inspection results (including engine and location data) to CARB.
  • Legal Requirements: As required by law, such as in response to subpoenas or government requests.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Third-Party Services

Our site integrates:

  • Google Analytics and Fonts for performance and design.
  • Facebook Pixel for tracking.
  • Stripe for payments.
  • Reviews widgets, which may collect feedback data.
  • CARB CTC-VIS Portal for compliance (you create accounts directly with CARB).

These services have their own privacy policies: Google Privacy Policy, Meta Privacy Policy, Stripe Privacy Policy, CARB Privacy Policy.

Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards (e.g., encryption, access controls) to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no online transmission is completely secure.

Children's Privacy

Our website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If we learn we've collected such data, we will delete it.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review it periodically.
